Day 1: Pakse Arrival

Upon arrival, meet tour guide and transfer to hotel for check-in.
Overnight in hotel, Pakse.

Day 2: Wat Phu - Khong Island (Breakfast/Lunch)

Early morning breakfast at hotel. Continue by car to visit Vat Phou, the Khmer temple ruin of the 8-11th century and local museum. Lunch at a local restaurant in Champassak. Afternoon continue to Khong Island, cross the Mekong River by ferry. Arrive on Khong Island, transfer to the hotel.
Overnight in hotel, Khong Island.

Day 3: Khone Phapheng – Pakse (Breakfast/Lunch)

Breakfast at hotel. Take a long-tail boat on the Mekong to Si Phan Don area, (the "Four Thousand Islands"). Stop at Don Det. Walk on the bridge liking Don Det and Don Khone. Stop at the old railway and locomotive then walk (or by local tuk-tuk) through village and countryside to visit the impressive and beautiful Liphi waterfalls close to the Cambodian border. Lunch at a local restaurant along the bank of the Mekong River. After lunch, excursion by car to Khone Phapheng the famous waterfall on the Mekong. Return to Pakse arriving in the late afternoon.

Day 4: Vientiane (Breakfast)

Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to airport for your morning flight to Vientiane. Arrive in Vientiane, go on tour to the major sights of the capital, including the oldest temple of Wat Sisaket with thousands of miniature Buddha statues, and the former royal temple of Ho Pra Keo which previously housed the famous Emerald Buddha image now in Bangkok. On the way to the famous and sacred structure of That Luang Stupa, we stop to take some pictures of the imposing Patuxai monument, which is well-known as Vientiane's own Arc de Triomph.

Day 5: Vientiane - Xieng Khouang (Breakfast)

Breakfast at hotel. We drive towards the Lao-Thai border at the Friendship Bridge to tour the Buddha Park, a blend of Buddhist and Hindu sculptures created by a mystical monk on parkland located by the Mekong River and see the impressive Friendship Bridge. Then transfer to airport and departure to Phonesavanh to tour the Plain of Jars. Arrive in Phonsavanh, the provincial capital of Xieng Khouang, transfer to your hotel. Visit the Plains of Jars site No.1 close to the city, the largest site containing large stone jars which nobody is sure of their purpose. Proceed to site No.2 a few minutes from there with nice landscape. Site No.2 has the biggest jar (2.7 m long) in the wide plain. On the way stop at Khang Ngao village with its nice traditional houses. Overnight in hotel, Xieng Khouang.

Day 6: Xieng Khouang - Luang Prabang (Breakfast/Lunch)

Breakfast at hotel . Drive back from Phonesavanh to Phoukhoun. At Phoukhoun the road on the right leads to Luang Prabang passing many Kamu and Lao Loum villages. Lunch at Kiewkacham in a local restaurant. On the way to Luang Prabang make a stop to visit picturesque villages. Arrive in Luang Prabang and transfer to hotel to check-in.

Day 7: Luang Prabang – City tour (Breakfast/Lunch)

Breakfast at hotel. Full-day visit of the old city: starting with Vat Vixoune influenced by Tai-Lue architecture and That Makmo, the watermelon-shape stupa and Vat Aham just next door. Continue to Vat Sipphoutthabat with its fine carved doors and its view over the Nam Khan River. Walk through the small lanes up to Vat Xieng Thong, the most beautiful temple of Luang Prabang dating back to the 16th century. The roofs of the main chapel sweep low to the ground. Lunch at a local restaurant. Afternoon, continue your visit to the museum of the former royal palace) and Vat Mai with its five-tiered roof and exquisitely carved veranda. In the heart of the city, climb up Phousi Hill for a bird's eye view of the city and Nam Khan River. Back to the hotel.

Day 8: Luang Prabang – Pak Ou Caves (Breakfast/Lunch)

Breakfast at hotel. Take a walk in the colorful wet market, then transfer to the local pier of Luang Prabang to board a traditional boat. Go upstream on the Mekong River and visit the sacred Buddha caves, Tham Ting and Tham Phoum. Stop off at local villages close to the river and experience the daily life of the local people. Lunch in a local restaurant near the Mekong River. Return to Luang Prabang in the afternoon. Free time in the old city: you may take a leisurely stroll around this small city. The night market along a stretch of the main road (Sisavanvong Road) would start at 7pm.

Day 9: Luang Prabang – Kuangsi Waterfall (Breakfast)

Breakfast at the hotel.. Excursion by car to the Kuangsi Waterfall (28km away). On the way, visit Hmong village at Ban Na Ouane and Khmou village at Ban Tha pen. Enjoy the beautiful scenery, swimming or relaxing at the clear pools of tiered limestone formation. Back to Luang Prabang in the afternoon and time at leisure in the old city.

Day 10: Luang Prabang - Departure (Breakfast)

This morning you may want to wake up early and participate in the daily early morning ritual of giving alms to a long line of saffron-clad monks, joining the local people making merit by giving offerings of sticky rice, fruits and cakes to monks according to tradition. Return to hotel for breakfast then browse in the shops where you can find lovely collections of handmade textile by local and hill tribe people from around Luang Prabang. Transfer to airport for your departure flight.
