1This short tour of 8 days concentrates on overland travel in Java, from the capital of Jakarta going eastwards to Yogyakarta and ending up in Surabaya. It emphasizes on Javanese culture, regional food and amazing sights and experiences as we traverse almost the whole of Java. This Java tour is devised for the first-time visitor to Indonesia covering the most fascinating aspects of the land and people. Java is an island of wispy-smoking volcanoes and absorbing history, culture, and offers great contrasts of cultures in its lowland and highland. It is the most densely populated island of Indonesia with incredibly crowded cities; but there are vast stretches of fascinating open country in between.

Day 1: Jakarta - Bandung (Lunch)

Pick up from the airport (early morning) or hotel in Jakarta and depart to Bandung via Bogor Botanical Garden and Puncak Tea Plantation. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant in Puncak Pass. Continue to Bandung, arriving in the late afternoon. Free at leisure to walk about in the town.

Day 2: Bandung(Breakfast/Lunch)

Breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast, start with a city tour of Bandung and its environs. Visit Tangkuban Perahu volcano filled with sulphurous fumes. Lunch in a local restaurant. Back to Bandung, to visit Angklung bamboo Music Show. Overnight in GRAND PREANGER BANDUNG HOTEL, Bandung.

Day 3: Bandung – Kutoarjo by train – Wonosobo (Breakfast/Lunch)

After breakfast, transfer to the train station where you will board the train to Kutoarjo. Lunch box will be provided. Upon arrival in Kutoarjo, meet and transfer to Wonosobo.

Day 4: Wonosobo – Dieng Plateau – Borobudur – Yogyakarta (Breakfast/Lunch)

Breakfast at the hotel In the morning we will drive to Dieng Plateau to visit the oldest Hindu temple complex in Java; then Telaga Warna Colour Lake and Sikidang Crater. Back to Wonosobo for lunch in a local restaurantbefore proceed to visit Borobudur Temple - the most spectacular and world's biggest Buddhist monument complex. It was built around 800 A.D. Afterwards drive to Yogyakarta for overnight. Stroll in Jalan Malioboro to check out the shops full of local products and see the teeming life on this main street of Yogyakarta.

Breakfast at hotel Morning tour to visit the Sultan's palace, located in the heart of the old city; the huge palace of the sultans of Yogyakarta was effectively the centre of a small walled city within the city. Over 25,000 people live within the greater Kraton compound, which contains its own market, shops, batik and silver cottage industries, schools and mosques. Afterwards we drive to the Prambanan village to visit the Hindu Prambanan Temples. This hindu temple complex was erected in the 9th century while Java was ruled by the Hindu Sanjayas of Old Mataram in the north of Java. The complex consists of 3 major temples/shrines such as Candi Shiva Mahadeva, Candi Brahma & Candi Vishnu; and 2 minor ones, Candi Nandi and Candi Sewu. The Ramayana story is carved on the walls of the temples. Enough time is given to stroll around and to observe the beautiful reliefs. Afterwards drive back to your hotel. Rest of the day is free at leisure

Day 6: YOGYAKARTA - Free Day (Breakfast)

Breakfast at the hotel. Free day to wander about in this most cultural city of Java. Suggest visiting the Bird Market, Water Castle, catch a wayang kulit performance and watch Indonesia's famous batik printing on sarongs and shirts. Try a spicy padang curry lunch in one of the many restaurants.

Day 7: YOGYAKARTA - JOMBANG – KEDIRI (Breakfast/Lunch)

Breakfast at the hotel. Check-out the hotel in the early morning to catch the morning train to Jombang, (Executive Class) departure at 07:30 from Yogyakarta train station. Lunch box will be served on the train. Upon arrival in Jombang, meet and transfer to Kediri. Visit the old church near the town centre which dates back to the early 19th century. The church is half open and built in stone and wood. The unique roof reminds of the Batak houses in northern Sumatra. Ride on tricycle "Becak" to explore the town and experience its charms first hand.

Day 8: KEDIRI - SURABAYA (Breakfast)

Breakfast at the hotel. Check-out and drive to the port-city of Surabaya situated on the northern coast of Java. Sightseeing of the city before proceeding to the airport to board the flight out - to Jakarta to connect with your departure flight, or to elsewhere.
